Our neighborhood is composed of several historic subdivisions that were originally developed from west to east and include Steele Place, Walnut Hills, Glenmore Place, Country Club Place, and the Westdale subdivisions. Most of our land was originally a part of Richland Plantation.

On Saturday, February 15, 2014 BREC hosted a grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration for the new Webb Park Playground. Thanks to the hard work and generosity of neighborhood residents, Friends of Webb Park, over $91,000 was raised to contribute to the overall construction budget. The Reilly family was the largest single donor, contributing $10,000 to the project. The groundbreaking event featured food trucks, games, First Tee Golf Recreation and Fitness demonstrations, and the Knock Knock Children’s Museum’s Mobile Playground. Current improvements include a multi-use lawn, two new play areas, a small walking loop and two outdoor pavilions.

Webb Memorial Golf Course

The most popular of BREC's courses, Webb Memorial is an 18-hole course that measures 6,349 yards in length. Large oak trees line the 

The course was originally built as a private club in the 1920's in one of Baton Rouge's most affluent neighborhoods. It opened in 1924 and became a municipal course in 1941. Webb Memorial also features a fitness center. Learn to play better golf by being physically golf fit! There is a specially designed fitness area for golfers to work out, with plenty of equipment designed specifically to strengthen and enhance your swing. Webb Memorial reopened to the public May 13, 2006 after undergoing its first major renovation in more than 80 years. Webb veterans and newcomers alike should be astounded at the wide range of improvements made to the course. Improvements to irrigation keep fairways and greens lush and playable year round. Major improvements include: new tees, new restroom, repairs to cart paths, re-seeding and reshaping of greens, new drainage paths, new irrigation system, new and reshaped bunkers, and new carts.
